House Rules for Airbnb Guests

Airbnb house rules can be just as important as having a catchy headline, quality photos, and an inviting description for your listing. House rules can be an essential part of marketing your listing. It clearly lays out expectations and helps to ensure that your accommodation is right for both the guest and you.

Having established house rules can turn some potential guests away but that is ok. Clearly stating what guests can and can’t do, can prevent problems before they ever occur. House rules are left to the creative thinking of the host, so you can choose to set them as more fun and friendly or to be more formal and serious.

House rules: what to include

Figuring out what rules you want to implement can be a challenge. Lucky for you there are many experienced Hosts who have already made a list of the best house rules. Below is a sample of house rules for your Airbnb guests:

  • Security
  • Turn off a/c
  • Hot tub/swimming pool
  • Barbecue
  • Compliance consequences

Creating rules will not only protect you but will help the guest have a more enjoyable experience as well.  You have the full ability to decide what rules you want to implement. Keep in mind, you should not be making long lists or paragraphs of restrictive rules.

Guests are coming to have a nice relaxing vacation, not a place where they need to be worried about a long list of dos and don’ts, which can be very unattractive to guests. Keep rules clear, simple, and concise. This will eliminate confusion and will help you create a better relationship between you and your guests.

I have spent a lot of time, effort, and money on *listing*. Please treat it with the utmost respect as you would your own home. Do not move furniture around, eat in the bedrooms and keep the kitchen clean.

Make sure to turn off lights, other electronics and have the A/C set to 72 in summer and 68 in the winter when leaving the house for an extended period of time.

This neighborhood means a lot to us and most residents live here full-time. Please be respectful and avoid loud noises between 11 pm and 7 am.

Smoking is not permitted inside the house. If you are wanting to smoke please do so only in one of the outdoor areas like the patio.

The swimming pool is open 10 am-10 pm

Pets are not allowed in the home unless for medical purposes. If you wish to bring a pet that is not for medical purposes a pet fee will be charged with 50 dollars per pet. We reserve the right to decide whether we will allow the pet regardless of you being willing to pay the fee.
